Lit cigarette stuck in eye of officer in scuffle

SAN DIEGO — A man stuck a burning cigarette into a police officer's eye during an arrest, authorities said.

The incident began Saturday night when officer Tracey Williams pulled over a Saturn in response to a sheriff's department request to be on the lookout for such a vehicle, according to sheriff's Sgt. Chris Serritella.
 
The driver, Corey Kennington Johnson, 27, allegedly stuck the cigarette in Williams' eye when they scuffled after Johnson got out of the car, police said.

It was unclear if the act was intentional, police said.

Williams was not believed to be seriously injured, police Sgt. Rodney Vandiver said.

Johnson was arrested for investigation of drug-related charges and resisting arrest, He could face additional charges, police said.

A San Diego police report says Johnson had a bag containing a white powdery substance believed to be cocaine, four syringes, a digital scale, a spoon and about 115 pills including Valium, Vicodin, Soma, Ambien and Ecstasy
