Officers listed in stable condition

The standoff lasted more than 14 hours and caused a chaotic scene outside the house at White Cedar Terrace, where two officers were hit by gunfire after knocking on the door at 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
The officers, whose names were not released, were taken to Gwinnett Medical Center in Lawrenceville, where they were in stable condition Friday, according to officials. It was not known how many times they were shot.
One of the officers underwent surgery and was in the hospital's intensive care unit, police spokesman David Schiralli said early Friday.
A SWAT team was dispatched to the house and at 9 p.m. began negotiating with a man who was holed up inside the residence, Schiralli said. No one else was in the home, off Suwanee Dam Road on the east side of the city.
Police fired tear gas cannister into the house several times Thursday night, but that did not drive out the suspect.
