PHOENIX — A man opened fire on Phoenix police, slightly wounding one of the officers, as they attempted to serve a search warrant at his home early Thursday.
The officer, who was not identified, was shot in the hand or wrist and taken to a hospital.
One of the bullets struck the officer, who was partly concealed behind a tree, he said.
The SWAT team then entered the home and arrested the man without incident. It appears that the officers did not return fire, Tranter said.
The man's girlfriend and three children were in the house at the time, but were not injured, police said.
The man was considered dangerous and has a violent history, Tranter said.
Phoenix police officers served six search warrants Thursday morning in connection with the money laundering operation at residences and two businesses in the Phoenix area, Tranter said. He said the illegal operation was run out of an unidentified Phoenix-area restaurant.
