Off-duty Chicago officer foils bank robbery

CHICAGO — An off-duty Chicago police officer working as a security guard foiled a robbery at a North Side bank Thursday afternoon, authorities said.

The attempted heist occurred about 1:20 p.m. at the Albany Bank branch at 4400 N. Western Ave. in the Ravenswood neighborhood, Chicago Police Officer Tom Polick said.
