But he isn’t a police officer and his 2007 Ford Mustang isn’t a police cruiser.
An assistant district attorney says what Vigil has done with his car isn’t illegal as long as he doesn’t act like a police officer.
Vigil started decorating his Mustang last summer to look like the police cruiser in the “Transformers” movie.
He did it because his 7-year-old son, Thomas, was fond of the film.
Chief Deputy District Attorney Joe Ulibarri says it’s against the law to mimic state police cars, which are black and white.
But he also says state police sell old cars to citizens without repainting them.
