Ill. cop pulls woman out of fire

EVANSTON, Ill. — An Evanston police officer crawled though a smoke-filled home Monday afternoon and pulled an unconscious woman to safety shortly before fire engulfed much of the residence, a Fire Department official said.
The fire started in a two-story home in the 2100 block of Wesley Avenue shortly after 3 p.m., said Division Chief Samuel Hunter. When police and firefighters arrived the home was filled with smoke and residents who had fled the home told them a woman was still inside, Hunter said.
