Tampa police officer killed; suspect arrested

Editor's note: The Associated Press reports: Tampa Police Chief Steve Hogue says 38-year-old Cpl. Mike Roberts was shot Wednesday night after confronting a man seen pushing a shopping cart full of items along a city street. Hogue says the suspected shooter is 34-year-old Humberto Delgado Jr., a Virgin Islands police officer from 1996 to 2000. Delgado was being held and no attorney was listed. His cousin tells Bay News 9 that Delgado recently moved to the area and was living on the streets after moving out of his uncle's house. She says he has a history of mental illness.
