Why they won't stop shooting in Chicago
Violence has plagued Chicago for years. The complex nature of the city's crime problem is highlighted in the Chicago Sun-Time series, "59 hours," which documents a weekend in 2008 in which 40 people were shot, seven fatally. Two years later, nearly all of the shooters from that weekend have escaped charges.
Three off-duty Chicago cops have been killed since May. PoliceOne Contributor Dave Smith says that while the mayor and the media whine about "gun violence," the real focus should be on the "War on Cops."
