'I think if any one of us had done these actions and assaulted someone, we would all be in jail,' said The man who was allegedly beaten

DENVER — The mayor of Denver, Colorado, is asking the FBI to investigate a videotaped incident in April 2009 in which police officers beat a man.

The two police officers involved have already been disciplined, with one suspended for three days and another docked a day's pay, according to documents released by Denver officials Tuesday. But in a statement issued by his communications director, Mayor John Hickenlooper said that an FBI review of the full case would "help ensure justice is appropriately served."

"The video is very disturbing, and when viewed in isolation, it does not reflect well on the officers involved," Hickenlooper's statement said. "But the video tells only a portion of the story."
