Former officer not guilty in kidnapping and sexual assault case

(FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.) -- A jury has cleared former a Fayetteville police officer Thursday for the kidnapping and sexual assault of three women who were in his custody.
Young admitted that he had sex with the woman and that the actions were immoral but that they was consensual. The women had told the court that they were intimidated by Young's power over them as a police officer.
"I never lost faith. From the beginning, I knew that it was in the hands of the Lord. I placed it there," Rev. David Young, Christopher's father, told WRAL-TV. "I will admit he didn't use the best judgment."
The three women left the courtroom visibly upset, according to the Fayetteville TV station WRAL.
Young had been in jail since he was charged in 1998. He was freed on $13,000 bond pending resolution of a another kidnapping and rape charge for which no trial date has been set, the station reported.
