(BATON ROUGE, La.) -- A bounty hunter was shot Friday night after being allowed into an apartment on Sherwood Meadow Drive.

His injuries were not believed to be life-threatening, police Capt. Keith Breithaupt said. Breithaupt said two bounty hunters went to Apt. C at 2015 Sherwood Meadow near South Sherwood Forest Boulevard and North Harrell's Ferry Road. A woman admitted them; they asked for someone, and she said he was upstairs, Breithaupt said.

About that time, a man with a gun in each hand came down the stairs shooting, he said. One bounty hunter was hit in the upper body, and the pair ran out of the apartment, Breithaupt said.

The gunman followed, still firing, he said.

Police had a suspect in custody late Friday. His name and the identities of the bounty hunters were not released.
