(ALBION, Ill.) -- A man who barricaded himself inside his house Sunday in a standoff with police gave his 4-year-old son a gun and told him to shoot at anyone who came through the door, a prosecutor has revealed.

The details of the bizarre incident were made public at a bond hearing for Johnny H. Williams, 33, who is charged with two felony charges of aggravated intimidation and one count of threatening a public official, the Evansville Courier & Press reported.

During the hearing, State's Attorney Kevin Kakac asked a circuit court judge for a high bond, using the story about the child as evidence, according to the newspaper.

"Williams knew that law enforcement officials were coming, but barricaded himself in the house and conveyed threats to police officers that he would not come out -- that he would not be taken alive -- and then armed his 4-year-old son," The Courier & News quoted the prosecutor as telling the court.

After the standoff ended Sunday afternoon, police searched Williams' home and found firearms, digital scales, and handwritten notes detailing how to manufacture methamphetamine, the newspaper reported.

Williams was ordered held on $1 million. After the hearing, he was hospitalized for possible appendicitis, the newspaper said.
