Two Louisiana officers
cleared in fatal shooting
[Bossier City, LA]

PoliceOne Staff Report
(BOSSIER CITY, La.) -- An internal police review has determined that the two officers that shot and killed an unarmed man in front of his home on New Year's Eve were justified in their actions.

Chris Estess, 24, and Shannon Hodges, 32, were cleared of any wrongdoing in the shooting of Doug B. Miller, 30, on Dec. 31 after he ignored police commands and approached them with his hands hidden inside his overcoat.

"These officers believed their lives, and those of residents in the neighborhood, were in imminent danger," Police Chief Danny Dison told the Shreveport Times.

Police were called to the home after Miller's mother called 911 to report that her son was thinking of blowing up himself and his car.
