Suspect kills self
|PoliceOne Staff Report|
(ANCHORAGE, Alaska) -- After a one-hour standoff with state troopers, a 33-year-old Seward man fatally shot himself in the head.
About 6:14 p.m. Tuesday police and state troopers got a call that Clayton Stoddard was drunk, armed and was threatening to kill his wife and two children, police spokesman Greg Wilkinson told the Fairbanks Daily News Miner.
When police arrived, Stoddard went onto his front porch and started yelling at officers and waving his handgun.
At that time Stoddard's wife and children fled to safety out the back door of the house. For about an hour officers attempted to negotiate with Stoddard, who threatened to kill himself and anyone else who came into the house.
