Police patrol high school because of “Columbine” threat
[BOULDER, Colo.]

February 15, 2001
(BOULDER, Colo.) – Police officers were on duty at a Colorado high school this week while investigators tried to trace an e-mail threatening athletes with death “Columbine-style.”

Two bullets were also discovered near student lockers at Fairview High School on Monday.

Some athletes stayed away from school on Tuesday because of rumors of violence that day, and school officials sought police protection. Officers are expected to remain in the school at least into next week.

Twelve students and a teacher died in the 1999 massacre at Columbine High School in Littleton, Colo. The two students who planned and carried out the killings then turned their weapons on themselves.
