Councilman seeks to limit sales of knives to children
|February 27, 2001|
(BOSTON) – A Boston councilman is introducing legislation that would ban street sales of knives.
Councilor Daniel Conley does not believe that existing ordinances against selling to children is effective because vendors must be caught in the act of making the sale. He says that street vendors are more likely than stores to ignore the law.
Police in the city say that knives have become more common as weapons since the state began cracking down on firearms.
