Md. officer uses CPR to save woman's life

GLEN BURNIE, Md. – A Maryland woman owes her life to a police officer who used his emergency training to bring her back from cardiac arrest.

Scott Magee, an officer in Howard County, was sitting at a red light on U.S. Route 1 early Thursday when a driver pounded on the window of his squad car. The woman’s passenger, Janice Divers of Glen Burnie had collapsed.

Magee said later that he probably performed CPR worked on Divers for only five minutes before paramedics arrived, but the interval seemed much longer.

Magee was trained as an emergency medical technician before he joined the Howard County police department in 1995.
