Video: Cruiser bumps bear cub in Tenn. countryside

Deputy bumped into a black bear with his car as he patrolled the highway

SEQUATCHIE COUNTY, Tenn. — Dashcam footage released Tuesday shows Late Friday night, a Tennessee deputy bumping a black bear cub with his cruiser during highway patrol.

The accidental collision on Friday knocked the bear 25-30 ft down the road, according to NBC News.

Deputy Jason Harvey told dispatch that he tried to locate the bear, but that “it got up and took off.”

NBC News said bears often come through the area at night in order to raid bird feeders, but that the cruiser and Harvey himself suffered no ill effects in the incident.
