|Check every tool on your belt|

I just watched the video by Lt. Dan Marcou on speed cuffing, so I thought it might be a good idea to share some information, and ask the question, “How is your tool belt?”
1.) Are your cuffs in good working order, loose, and loaded? To set them up for speed cuffing, you need to keep the ratchet at the last notch to get them on quick.
2.) How is your ASP or other expandable baton? Have you used it or checked it lately? Will it open easily? Will it stay open if you swing it or will it collapse on its own?
3.) If you carry OC or some other spray, is it full, is it working, or is it bad/outdated?
4.) Check your TASER to be sure it’s in proper working order. Don’t just assume it will be ready when you need it.
5.) Most importantly, How about that firearm of yours? Is it loaded with a full mag? Did you check? Did you forget to load it before you left the locker room? Did you check your extra mags? Are they even with you?
These are the types of things that keep you prepared to do battle in the street, if you overlook your equipment it won't be ready for you when you need it. Be safe, be smart, be prepared.
