Police say the man, identified only as William, climbed on top of a Clear Channel radio tower on Thursday, and emergency response crews blocked off the area in order to quell the potentially life-threatening situation. They say William is refusing most offers of food and water and last drank liquids Friday morning.
"His life is in jeopardy,” said Officer Jason Willingham of the Tulsa Police Department.
Authorities removed some emergency crews from the scene Sautrday, and he climbed halfway down the tower Monday afternoon before stopping, according to reports. Officers do not believe he is suicidal.
"Honestly, if he was wanting to jump, I think it would have happened by now," a spokesperson from the Tulsa Police Department said. "But that doesn't mean it won't happen in the next five seconds."
Police continue to monitor the situation, and an officer told KRMG that despite the commotion, by law the man cannot face more than a citation for trespassing, which does not involve jail time.
No damage to the tower has been reported.
