Video will ease cops' interviewing travel woes
Officers in Homestead, Fla. will soon be able to give depositions over video link
Under the current system, officers drive to the Miami-Dade Public Defender’s office, 1320 NW 14th St., to give their deposition. That’s about 34 miles from the Homestead police station.
The video-chat program will save the city’s police department the cost of paying its officers overtime when they have to drive to the Miami office . The initiative will also save the department gas money, and it will keep more officers on patrol within the city.
