UC Davis videos fuel debate over police tactics

Before the last protester was led away in handcuffs from the the Occupy movement at sleepy UC Davis, videos of the spraying were on the Internet

A week ago, the Occupy movement at sleepy UC Davis didn't resonate strongly beyond, say, Dixon. One videotaped pepper spraying later, and the campus name is being evoked by millions around the globe as a touchstone of civilian protest and alleged police brutality.

That breathtakingly rapid transformation is a testament to how imagery, and the ability of just about anyone to spread it, has changed the way people get information - and how movements can get fired up because of technology and social media.
