Officer Lorin Webber was responding to a medical emergency call at a West Main Street nursing home at about 5:20 a.m. when he saw a late model Monte Carlo two-door head straight for his cruiser near Jocelyn Lane, Lt. James Fasano said Wednesday. Despite Webber’s best efforts to avoid the collision, the Monte Carlo hit the cruiser head on, Fasano said.

Webber was not injured in the collision, but could feel his cruiser being pushed by the other vehicle, which was still in drive and had its engine roaring, according to Fasano. Webber got out of his cruiser and found the driver of the other car slumped over, Fasano said.
