Video: City lays off cops, makes 'fun' holiday video

Critics say the video came at the wrong time

MIDDLETOWN, Ohio — City bosses in Ohio directed that a "fun" video be shot for the holidays — on the same day cops and firefighters were laid off.

City Manager Judy Gilleland oversaw production of the video, which features city employees singing and dancing with holiday decorations surrounding them.

Critics say it was inappropriate to feature the Middletown Fire Chief while the fire department is going through a tough time, according to Fox 19. A fire station was closed in late November.

Additionally, and on the day the video was made, the council cut public safety personnel by eliminating seven police officers and nine firefighters.
