Man in custody for killing of Okla. parole officer
Oklahoma Department of Corrections Officer Jeffrey McCoy was trying to conduct a pre-release visit
By PoliceOne Staff
Jeffrey McCoy, 32, was a probation and parole officer with the Oklahoma Department of Corrections, News OK reported.
Witnesses said Kinchion, who lives at the home but was not the person McCoy came to see, lunged at the parole officer and a fight spilled out onto the street.
A gunshot was heard a while later, and McCoy was seen lying in the driveway, bleeding. The witness said it appeared the man wrestled the weapon away from the man before discharging it.
When police arrived, the suspect came to the door and fired at them, too, prompting a call out to the special tactics team. Before they arrived, police deployed a less-lethal device when Kinchion did not follow their orders.
He is being held in Midwest City Jail.
