Rookie cop fired after armed and drunk at club
He later said he was trying to help a woman he thought was being treated inappropriately by the bouncer

MARGATE, Fla. — An officer has been fired for carrying guns while drunk at a Fort Lauderdale nightclub.
Officer Ryan Doyle, 24, was described as "extremely intoxicated" as he lifted his shirt to show the bouncer his badge. Doyle was also carrying two loaded firearms — one of them was his police weapon — along with three more magazines and a pocket knife, according to the Sun Sentinel.
A Margate police sergeant who picked Doyle up from the Ft. Lauderdale Police Department later that night said he was "very apologetic" and reeked of alcohol.
Doyle, who was wearing a "Where's Waldo" costume, later said he was trying to help a woman he thought was being treated inappropriately by the bouncer.
Margate police said Doyle failed to meet the terms of his probation. They said he violated a state law, which does not permit anyone to carry a firearm into an establishment that serves alcohol.
An internal affairs report stated, “Officer Doyle's intoxicated state was not only an embarrassment to himself, but to the department that entrusted him to keep his private life unsullied.”
Doyle’s father told the Sun Sentinel that his son was "an excellent kid. This crushed him. He's wanted to be a police officer since the 10th grade."
