College could lose police over non-discrimination policy

2 Tennessee lawmakers said they will press ahead with a bill that would strip the Vanderbilt University Police Department of state recognition unless the school abandons its "all-comers" policy

NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Tennessee lawmakers Tuesday revived an effort to pressure Vanderbilt University to drop its controversial nondiscrimination policy for student clubs — this time with an attack on the school's police powers.
