Motorist fires at N.Y. officer, then kills self, police say
ROCHESTER, N.Y.- A middle-aged motorist who was pulled over for erratic driving exchanged gunfire with a police officer, then killed himself with a shot to the head, police said.
The man, who was not immediately identified, got out of his car after being ordered to stop Monday night, police chief David Moore said Tuesday. He pulled a gun from his waistband, scuffled and exchanged shots with the officer and then shot himself, Moore said.
It was unclear whether the motorist was hit by any of the officer's shots. The officer suffered unspecified minor injuries.
Police said an internal investigation was being carried out to determine if the officer acted properly.
