The Prince George's County, Mary. Police Department regrets to inform you of the loss of one of its own. Cpl. Anthony Michael Walker passed away this morning at Washington Hospital Center as a result of injuries sustained from a traffic accident that occurred 10 days ago in Brandywine, Mary.

On Nov. 5, at approximately 10:51 p.m., Cpl. Walker was operating his department-issued 1994 Pontiac Grand Prix in heavy rain when he lost control of the vehicle in the 15500 block of Brandywine Road. The vehicle left the right side of the roadway, struck a tree.

Cpl. Walker was transported to Washington Hospital Center with critical injuries.

Cpl. Walker resided in Hughesville, Mary. and was a 19-year veteran of the Prince George's County Police Department. He served as President of the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge #89.

He is survived by his wife and four children.

Police Chief Melvin C. High said, "The entire Prince George?s County Police family is saddened by this tragic loss. Our thoughts and prayers go out to his family during this difficult time. Cpl. Walker was a fine officer and will be missed by all."

Funeral arrangements are pending.
