Officer Down: Cprl. Patrick J. Healey - [Fort Myers, Florida]
|Corporal Patrick J. Healey, 55, of the Lee County Sheriff's Office, Traffic Unit, was stricken while on duty and passed away on Thursday evening.
Born in New Haven, Conn., he was a 15-year resident of Cape Coral, Fla. and an active member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Cprl. Healey was the beloved husband of Robin Healey for 31 years. He was the adored father of Erica A. Healey of Boston, Mass. and Patrick R. Healey and fiance Suzi Amaral of Cape Coral, Fla.
Cprl. Healey is also survived by his cousins and life-long friends, Retired Captain and Mrs. David DiVito, New Haven Fire Department; loving mother-in-law Ruth Doms and aunt, Roberta Doms.
During the last days, his life was celebrated by hundreds of friends, colleagues and those he so generously accepted into his family.
Healey was a Vietnam Era Army Veteran who served in Germany and began his 15-year career with the Lee County Sheriff's Office in 1990. He served as a corrections officer from May 1990 and was transferred to The West District as a patrol officer in April 1995. He was promoted to Corporal in November 2000 and became a member of the traffic unit in June 2001. He was serving in this capacity at the time of his death.
Cprl. Healey will be laid to rest with full police honors in an open service on Tuesday, May 18th at 1:00 p.m. at First Assembly of God, 4701 Summerlin Rd., Ft. Myers. (Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m.)
