Three police officers were shot and killed Thursday -- apparently with armor-piercing rifles -- at a Birmingham, Ala. house Thursday as they were serving a warrant. Two or more men were lead away from the house and one suspect remained at large.

Birmingham police Chief Anetta Nunn identified a suspect at large as Nathaniel Lauell Wood, 28.

At about 3 p.m., a Birmingham tactical police squad stormed a house. Dozens of other officers -- some wearing body armor and carrying shotguns and rifles -- swarmed around the outside of the house and went door-to-door in the neighborhood of modest, older homes, searching for a suspect.

FBI agents are at the scene, as well as Birmingham police officers, U.S. marshals and sheriff's officers canvassing door-to-door.

At approximately 3:35 p.m., Birmingham police reported that Woods, the primary suspect in relation to the shooting, was in custody.

Ken Ward of NBC affiliate WVTM-TV in Birmingham, Ala., contributed to this report.
