Fla. officer saves drowning man from canal

SUNRISE A police officer jumped into a canal early Wednesday and saved a drowning man after the man jumped into the water, distraught over problems with his ex-girlfriend, Lt. Robert Voss said on Thursday.

Officer Daniel Ransone had responded twice to the home in the 11100 block of Northwest 35 Street because a man kept knocking on his ex-girlfriend's door. When he showed up a third time, at 3:17 a.m., after already having been issued trespass warnings, he fled, leaping into a nearby canal, Voss said.
