Cop nabs 2 in Pa. home invasion

PHILADELPHIA — A Frankford home invasion ended peacefully early yesterday, thanks to a quick-thinking resident and intelligent policing efforts, cops said.

"The real hero is the girl who was able to dial 9-1-1," said Capt. Jack McGinnis, of Northeast Detectives. "She didn''t have much of a chance to really talk, but it was enough to get the police there quickly."

Police officers "did a very good job of isolating the suspects so that an arrest was made and weapons were recovered," McGinnis said.

The drama unfolded shortly after 4 a.m. on Fillmore Street near Large, police said. Two men wearing masks entered the home through a second-floor window and "rounded the occupants up and were pointing weapons at them," McGinnis said.

Once cops arrived, he said, the two men fled empty-handed.

One suspect was captured inside an abandoned rowhouse next door, the other was found hiding inside his home two doors away.

Both suspects'' weapons were recovered, McGinnis added.

McGinnis didn''t identify the suspects because charges were still pending. He expected both men to be charged with robbery and related offenses.

No one was injured, McGinnis added.
