NM cop honored for foiling murder plot

Learned during an interrogation that a man been shot because he refused to take part in a plot to kill someone else

ALBUQUERQUE, NM — An Albuquerque police officer interrogating a man who had been shot in the head ended up foiling a murder plot against a witness in a carjacking case, police said Friday.

Officer Ferris Simmons was named a Friday hero this week by Mayor Richard Berry, who each week honors a public safety worker who goes beyond the call of duty in his or her job.
