Officers gave scores of presents to a family with three autistic children
WOODBRIDGE, Va. — Christmas came early for a less-fortunate Woodbridge family on Wednesday night.
Officers from the Prince William County police department’s eastern end district, as well as Mrs. Claus, gave scores of presents to the Gizaw family — which includes single mother Sophia, and her three children, Martha, 15, Daniel, 13, and Hannah, 12 — all of whom have varying degrees of autism.
Sophia Gizaw, who recently graduated from Northern Virginia Community College with a nursing degree and recently accepted a position at a Fredericksburg-area rehabilitation center, said she recently had a lot of bills to pay which made it very difficult to provide the Christmas she wanted for her family.
