Video: NM cop tries to reunite homeless Ohio man with family

Body camera footage captured a touching interaction between an Albuquerque officer and a homeless man looking to reunite with his family

ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — Body camera footage captured a touching interaction between an Albuquerque police officer and a homeless man looking to reunite with his family.

According to KOB 4, Officer Jim Edison responded to a call of a homeless man walking through traffic. When Officer Edison began talking to 27-year-old Brandon Walch, he was shocked by his request – he asked Edison for help in finding his way back home in Ohio.

 "To say to me, can you help me get home? Honestly that's the first time I ever heard that," Edison said.

The officer called the man’s parents, who told him Walch had left a year and a half ago. They did not know how he arrived in Albuquerque. Officer Edison attempted to get Walch into a shelter, but by the time Walch was allowed in, he had disappeared, according to the report.

Officer Edison told KOB 4 he’s on the lookout for Walch, hoping to reunite him with his family.
