Alexandria Police Officer Peter Laboy, 45, continues to recover from his injuries after Pakistan native Kashif Bashir, 27, opened fire on the officer in February, shooting him in the head. The shooting took place when Laboy, who was on a motorcycle, attempted to pull over the taxi driver for a minor traffic infraction. The motive for Bashir's actions is still unknown. - Full Story
A 5-year-old boy diagnosed with Asperger's syndrome was trapped in a homemade underground bunker for a week after Jimmy Lee Dykes killed the boy's bus driver and fled to his hideaway with the child. Officials and FBI tirelessly negotiated with the man and provided medical attention to the boy as the days wore on, until negotiations finally deteriorated and police took action, rescuing the boy and killing the abductor.
