On the Police Heroes topic page we not only remember those who have made the ultimate sacrifice in the mission to protect their communities, but we also recognize the many moments of heroism that all too often go unnoticed by the public or the mainstream press.
In 1998, Officer Donna Wescott went to meet a fellow officer for coffee at a 7-11. Little did she know what she was about to encounter. She shares her story of how she reacted and communicated when a gun was pointed to her head. She says her training took over in that moment and is the reason she remained alive.
Authorities identified the victims as Sgt. Mark Renninger, 39; Officer Ronald Owens, 37; Officer Tina Griswold, 40; and Officer Greg Richards, 42. Police have named Maurice Clemmons in connection with the ambush at a coffee shop near Tacoma in Pierce County. - Full Story
