HILLSBORO, Ore. — The community of Hillsboro created a recruitment video in hopes of finding their new police chief, and it made the qualifications clear: a new chief must be passionate about the town, and fun.
Former Police Chief Carey Sullivan resigned in March amid ongoing labor conflicts, and Ron Louie has taken over as interim chief as the department searches for a more permanent replacement, according to Oregon Live.
The six-minute satirical recruitment video shows mock situations like a domestic disturbance call that requires a SWAT unit, and a friendly arrestee who proclaims his love for the town from the back seat of a squad.
“As you can see, we like having fun here at Hillsboro, but that's because we're passionate about what we do. We're all family,” an officer says to the camera.
The video was funded by taxpayers, and is part of a recruitment packet that includes a job description and brochure, according to ci.hillsboro.or.us. Applications are due by September 20.
