After completing the Police Academy, Police Recruits are promoted to Police Officer I and assigned to the Patrol Division.

After one year, Police Officer I employees receive a $900 annual uniform allowance. Police Officer I employees may work a 4 day/10 hour rotating shift work schedule, depending on assignment. Bilingual pay (3.5% of base pay) is provided to qualified officers, if skills are required.

Job Requirements
  • Age : 20 at time of application.
  • Education : High School Diploma, GED, CA High School Proficeiency Test or AA or BA from accredited US College
  • Experience : See Additional Requirements.
  • Additional Requirement :

    • Must have no FELONY convictions.
    • Must have no DOMESTIC VIOLENCE convictions.
    • Must pass the EXTENSIVE BACKGROUND Investigation to the satisfaction of the Chief of Police.

    Entry Level Salary: $48,000   annual
    Academy Graduate: $54,000   annual
    Lateral: $69,000   annual
    Top Pay: $85,000   annual
