The Colorado City Police Department is currently accepting applications for the position of Patrol Officer.
Uniforms provided including firearm, protective vest and TASER, Take Home vehicle, City paid health/vision/dental for employee, TMRS 6% 2:1 match- vested after 5 years.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Patrol Officers are responsible for answering calls for assistance and service. Patrol Officers conduct investigations of crimes and motor vehicle crashes as well as conduct traffic enforcement using in car and handheld radar and LIDAR and issue appropriate citations. Patrol Officers also assist with occasional calls for animal control and code enforcement services and provide assistance to other law enforcement agencies when appropriate. Officers may be assigned to patrol areas on foot and conduct building safety checks. Patrol Officers may receive additional duties from the Patrol Sergeant.
Applicant must hold a minimum of a basic peace officer license issued by TCOLE in good standing. Must not have been convicted of a Class B misdemeanor in the last 10 years or ever convicted of a Class A misdemeanor or felony. Applicant must have a valid Texas class C driver’s license at time of appointment and must be willing to work nights, weekends and holidays and in inclement weather and extreme hot or cold conditions. Applicant must be able to make sound, split second decisions and be able to recall details of events.
Experience is preferred but not required.
