Job Description

This is a safety-sensitive position in the Police Department, exercising a high degree of discretion, trust and confidence performing skilled police work. The duties involve police patrol, criminal investigations, traffic regulation, related law enforcement activities and a wide variety of community services. Members in this classification work in partnership with the community to identify and resolve issues of concern, provide public safety service to the community in emergencies and maintain peace, safety and order. Members must exercise considerable judgment, initiative and skill in a variety of situations and must be able to act without direct supervision in completing work. Duties are carried out under established organizational values, policies, procedures and the laws of the Town, the State of Colorado and the United States.



Additional Information

Shift work, typically 10 hour days 40 hours per week; day, evening, weekend and/or holiday hours may be required.

Please note the Town of Parker does not currently have a lateral program. The hiring salary is as stated on the job posting. After successful completion of the PTO program Officers are moved to 'Solo Status' and become a Level 1 Officer making $25.24 hourly.

    A Colorado P.O.S.T. certification as a Level 1 Peace Officer is required, and a combination of education and experience to provide the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities (view full job description). An Associate’s Degree in Law Enforcement, Criminal Justice or related field is preferred. The ability to possess and maintain a valid Colorado Driver’s License and good driving record is required. Must have the ability to pass all phases of the selection process for police officer. The ability to type 25 words per minute is required. The ability to successfully complete a background check including but not limited to: criminal history search, drug screen, polygraph, psychological and physical examination is required.
