Dress code changes anger Ariz. cops

More than 100 officers have filed grievances about a recent uniform switch

By PoliceOne Staff

PHOENIX — More than 100 officers have filed grievances about a recent change to the Phoenix police dress code that requires a more formal uniform.

Phoenix Police Chief Daniel Garcia, who has been chief for just a few months, will require officers to trade in polo shirts and cargo pants in favor of traditional button-up shirts and straight-leg pants, ABC 15 reported

Officers who wear the less formal uniform said it allows them to get their gear off their belts and higher on their vests.

Garcia said the switch will aid civilians in distinguishing real officers from police impersonators. It goes into effect Oct. 1.
