Safariland's Forensics Source Apparel Line Gives CSIs Convenience, Comfort
JACKSONVILLE, Florida – Safariland™, a BAE Systems line of business, recently introduced the Forensics Source™ apparel line for Crime Scene Investigators (CSI). Because they must now carry more gear than ever into a crime scene, the new apparel line is designed to help CSIs conduct investigations more effectively and comfortably. This comprehensive product line leverages Safariland’s expertise in load-bearing carriers by matching a variety of versatile CSI vests and pouches with protective gloves, knee pads, hats, and a gear bag.
“We have taken our successful Safariland platforms and modified them to assist the CSI, just as we would a patrol or tactical officer,” said Eric Schellhorn, Director, Category Marketing, Investigations & Examinations. “For too long, Crime Scene Investigators have had limited access to load-bearing apparel needed to quickly and comfortably process crime scenes. We are thrilled to equip these technicians with the same high-quality gear that Safariland historically provided to the rest of the law enforcement agency.”
The CSI Vest is the centerpiece of the new Forensics Source apparel line and is customized for CSI’s unique work environment and personal preferences. It is available in two styles that help CSIs perform their duties in the most efficient and comfortable manner: a full body version with a closed back, and a lighter weight version with an open back for tropical climates. The vests are available in a variety of colors, with both large and small Crime Scene tags available to complete the vest.
Utilizing Safariland’s MOLLE (Modular Lightweight Load-carrying Equipment) system, both vest styles integrate 10 unique pouches offered by Forensics Source in any configuration. The pouch assortments allow CSIs to securely organize their essentials for easy access and to conveniently change equipment as needed. With the variety of MOLLE system and pouch configurations, CSIs will no longer have to make multiple trips to get the equipment and supplies they need to process a crime scene.
The Forensics Source apparel line also provides CSIs with additional products that can better assist them in challenging investigation environments:
• A variety of gloves are available to provide increased dexterity, puncture resistance and/or biohazard protection.
• Premium quality kneepads are available in soft neoprene and hard shells.
• Duty bags include a variety of compartments and pockets to organize extra gear needed at a scene.
• The signature Crime Scene hat, which is made from the highest quality materials for comfort, protection and durability.
