Pryme Radio's GPS-4100P GPSMIC Wins at the 2010 Innovation Awards

The 5th Annual Innovation Awards were recently held during the 117th International Association of Chiefs of Police Conference. Cygnus Business Media's Law Enforcement Group developed these awards to showcase cutting-edge products that were launched within the previous year.  An independent panel of qualified, veteran law enforcement officials judges the entries. Products are judged on innovativeness, productivity, quality, contribution, ease-of-use, maintainability, cost effectiveness, and practicality.  The criteria for selection of finalists and winners includes: How the product is used, why it’s unique, what type of law enforcement personnel use it (SWAT teams, traffic enforcement, call centers, etc.), what the greatest benefits are, and of course price point.  The finalists and winners are kept strictly secret until the day of the ceremony.

This year, there were more entries than ever before.  The event was attended by hundreds of participating industry vendors and other field professionals. Among the many esteemed finalists and winners was Pryme Radio Products.  Not only was their PRYMEBLU Bluetooth Adapter honored as a finalist in the Communications Category, but their GPS-4100P GPS Speaker Microphone Series took home the winning award.

New to this year’s Innovation Awards was the addition of a “best of show” award aptly named the Paramount Award.  This honor is given to what the judges deem as the most original and unique product of the year.  Out of over 120 entries, Pryme Radio Products earned the ultimate recognition for industry excellence for their GPS-4100P GPSMIC.

The judges looked for products that enhanced law enforcement not by category alone, but as a whole.  Pryme’s GPSMIC integrates a life-saving capability into a practical communication device, making cost-prohibitive GPS affordable for more agencies and adding to officer safety.

These are not the only awards Pryme has received for this innovative product. Pryme was just recently granted their 12th patent for the GPS Speaker Microphone. Dave George, President of Pryme believes “As an innovative leader in professional two way accessory industry, Pryme is always increasing the numbers of technical inventions”.

Pryme Radio Products' GPS-4100P GPS Speaker Microphone
Series is the next generation of PRYME's patented location reporting devices. The GPSMIC operates as a remote speaker microphone, but also contains a GPS receiver and FSK modem. The GPSMIC can send data reports over any uncompressed voice radio channel, allowing the dispatch operator to monitor the current location of users in the field. It keeps track of assets down to the individual. It's capable of reporting locations based on several different criteria and reporting modes can be combined to customize the system. Different GPSMIC units can use different reporting options. The GPS-4100P has been upgraded with an integrated USB port, programmable auxiliary button, and an internal GPS antenna. The GPSMIC includes PRYME's CheckPoint™ mapping program and software for programming GPSMIC options. Additional features include an alarm button that alerts dispatch of the GPSMIC's location during an emergency, and water resistant construction for long-life under heavy use.

GPSMICs don't require additional channels or licensing. There's no monthly fee for real-time GPS tracking. Functions as both a remote speaker microphone and a highly configurable GPS location device. The GPS-4100P works with virtually any two-way radio. Location reporting features: Polling - reports when requested by the operator; Push-To-Talk - reports when user sends a voice transmission; Elapsed Time - reports after a pre-programmed time; Relative Distance - reports if unit has moved a predetermined distance from its last location; Fixed Distance - alerts when a user moves outside a programmed perimeter; Base-Enabled - allows GPSMICs to view reports graphically.
