SymbolArts Designs a New Badge of Honor

SymbolArts Henry County Badge Henry County Police will begin retiring their old badges to sport something new. The entire department will get custom-made badges designed and manufactured by SymbolArts that showcase the old Henry County courthouse and memorializes the department's recent line of officers to die in the line of duty, according to Public Safety director Mike Turner.

Henry County is honored to have SymbolArts design such a beautiful, high quality badge. "Very few departments in Georgia carry custom badges. We're going to be one of the few," Turner said.

The police department currently uses stock badges that "any department can buy from any company that produces them," Turner said.

On the new badges, the courthouse clock is set at 1:44 p.m., which symbolizes Henry County Police Sgt. Jimmy Gilbert's badge number, 144. Right above the county's seal, is the number 110, which was police offer Chuck Haist's badge number, Gilbert, 41, died in a traffic accident May 2, 2004, when he rear-ended a truck parked off the northbound lanes of Interstate 75. Haist, 32, died in a wreck Feb. 16 while en route to assist other officers on a burglary call in Stockbridge.

"The custom badge is a way to remember and display the sacrifices that they've made," Turner said.

Turner said they are expecting 250 badges, including spares, that will cost less than their past current stock badges.

The badge design is copyrighted by the county. "It can not be produced without our expressed written permission," Turner said. Henry County Police Lt. Jason Bolton said he thinks the new badges look great." I'm really pleased to see that our two fallen officers will be honored in the badge's design," he said.

Bolton said the officers he's had contact with are excited about the badges also.

SymbolArts is known throughout the country for producing, at a competitive price the highest quality custom design badges and insignia including, coins, pins, patches, service awards and more.
