LaserMax Makes Presentation to Rochester, NY Chief of Police

Rochester, NY -– On November 19, 2004 LaserMax presented Chief Robert J. Duffy of the Rochester, NY Police Department with a Certificate of Appreciation and the first LMS-1202 Laser/Tactical Light unit to be issued to a law enforcement department.

Chief Duffy played an integral role during the design and prototyping stages of LaserMax’s newest product by offering the expertise of his department’s SWAT team members for testing and evaluation of the LaserMax 1202 Laser/Tactical Light with their Remington 870 pump shotguns. The responses generated through the team’s live-fire range drills became the foundation for several significant design changes that resulted in a much-improved final product.

“These guys were not afraid to offer their honest assessments,” reports Tom Alessi, Law Enforcement Trainer for LaserMax. “They wanted simple activation, tactically effective brightness, and above all, durability. I was proud to be able to come back to them with an improved design that implemented their recommendations and better met their needs.”

Chief Duffy commands an agency of over 850 sworn and non-sworn employees, which serve a community of approximately 230,000 people in an area of over 35 square miles. The Rochester Police Department is recognized in New York State as a leading law enforcement agency and received national recognition in 1987 when it became the first department in New York State to become accredited by CALEA.

The Rochester, NY Police emergency responders depend on the Remington 870 as a formidable law enforcement tool and expect the LaserMax LMS-1202 to enhance accuracy, increase target identification in any lighting condition, as well as allow for the control of multiple hostile assailants.
