Fla. cop accidentally shoots self

The Miami Herald MIAMI-DADE COUNTY, Fla. — A Miami-Dade police officer accidentally shot himself Wednesday afternoon after making an arrest, police said. The officer was taken to the hospital and is expected to be OK, police said. The officer from the Northside district had made an arrest at Northwest 22nd Avenue and 51st Street. He was putting his gun back in the holster and accidentally shot himself in the hip. ''He should be alright,'' said Detective Nelda Fonticiella, a department spokeswoman.
