Dave Sevigny of Team GLOCK Wins USPSA Area 7

Dave Sevigny of Team GLOCK Shooting Squad won the United States Practical Shooting Association Area 7 Production championship that was held on June 6- 8 in Harvard, Massachusetts. The Area 7 of USPSA covers the northeast territory of the United States which includes Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, Vermont and New York. A GLOCK 34 in 9 x 19 was used in Sevigny’s third consecutive Area championship of the 2008 season. Sevigny won the 1140 point event in dominating fashion by winning nine out of ten stages with a 265 point margin of victory.

One of Sevigny’s top performances came on Stage seven which is a 30 round course loaded with distant targets including movers and knock down steel. This is to be considered the most technical stage in the event. The final results showed only 28 out of 188 competitors firing Stage seven without a miss or no shoot penalty. Sevigny blazed through the 30 round stage “clean” in less than 24 seconds and scored 26 “A-zone” hits. It is also worth noting that Sevigny earned the best score on Stage seven among the five iron-sight divisions in the competition. Rules in the Production division restrict capacity to 10 rounds in the magazine while the Limited division may have more than 20 rounds.

“It’s always an uphill battle when you face off against Dave Sevigny. His shooting skills coupled with his natural athletic ability make Dave a force to be reckoned with on the range, but his gentlemanly demeanor and professionalism make him a much sought after squad partner,” said Area 7 Director Rob Boudrie.

Sevigny began shooting in the Area 7 region in 1997 and spoke about returning to one of the clubs where he first began competition. “I competed in some of the GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation (GSSF) and USPSA matches at Harvard Gun Club after discovering sport shooting. There’s been many good memories here,” added Sevigny.

Team GLOCK Shooting Squad will head into a series of speed steel competitions in the next couple months. The Winchester World Challenge and American Handgunner World Shoot – Off will be on June 24-29 in Montrose, Colorado followed by the USSA Pro – Am in Tulsa, Oklahoma on July 26 – 27 and will end with the premier event of all steel competition from August 14 – 17, the Steel Challenge World Speed Shooting Championship in Piru, California.
