GLOCK, Inc. Booth Activities at the 2010 NRA Show


Charlotte, NC - During the National Rifle Association’s (NRA) 139th Annual Meetings & Exhibits in Charlotte, NC May 14th-16th, 2010 several exciting events will occur in the GLOCK, Inc. booth #619. On Friday May 14th at 8:30am GLOCK, Inc. will award $120K to the NRA and its affiliates. GLOCK, Inc. Vice President Chad Mathis will be on hand to present NRA’s CEO and Executive Vice President Wayne LaPierre with GLOCK, Inc.’s first major contribution in 2010.

The distribution of the money will go as follows:
NRA: 50K
NRA Whittington Center Operational Costs: 50K
NRA Whittington Center Adventure Camp: 15K
NRA Law Enforcement Activities Division (LEADS): 5K

The NRA is recognized as America’s leading defender of Second Amendment rights and is the foremost firearms educational organization in the world. “The NRA and its affiliates are striving to educate the new generation about firearms safety and protect our Second Amendment rights. GLOCK, Inc. is committed to recognizing their hard work by supporting them for the fifth consecutive year,” said GLOCK, Inc. Vice President Gary Fletcher. The president of the NRA Ron Schmeits will accept the check for the NRA.

The NRA Whittington Center, founded in 1973, is the most comprehensive shooting facility in America today. This facility includes 15 shooting ranges, classrooms and a dining facility. The Whittington Center hosts competitive, educational and recreational shooting activities year round. The 33,300 acres located in northeastern New Mexico are open to all types of outdoor events including shooting, hunting, camping, hiking and horseback riding. The Whittington Center is financed 100% through voluntary contributions.

The NRA Whittington Center’s Adventure Camp is a unique place where young men and women have the opportunity to learn hunting, shooting and other outdoor skills. During the camp attendees have the chance to learn the fundamentals of shooting pistols, rifles, muzzle loaders and shotguns. Through a variety of activities including target and skeet shooting, NRA certified firearms instructors encourage teamwork, teach leadership skills and emphasize the importance of the safe handling of firearms. Wayne Armacost, the Executive Director of the Whittington Center, will accept the donations for the Whittington Center and the Adventure camp.

The Law Enforcement Activities Division (LEAD) is an NRA program founded specifically to provide the Law Enforcement community with a certified and standard Law Enforcement firearm instructor Training program. LEAD has taught 50,000 Law Enforcement instructors since its inception and has 12,000 active instructors nationwide. The LEAD program also offers scholarships for dependent children of Law Enforcement officers. Glenn Hoyer will accept the check for LEAD.

On Friday May 14th and Saturday May 15th R. Lee Ermey, “The Gunny,” will be in the GLOCK, Inc. booth signing autographs and taking pictures. R. Lee Ermey is a film and television star as well as a GLOCK pistol enthusiast. He will be signing autographs from 10am to 6pm both days.

During the three days of the show there will be presentations by the Team GLOCK Shooting Squad. Captain Dave Sevigny and member Randi Rogers will present at 10am, 2pm, and 4pm each day. They will give information on the GLOCK Sport Shooting Foundation as well as shooting technique instruction. Additionally, during the NRA show GLOCK, Inc. will be selling apparel and accessories. For 2010 GLOCK is introducing several new pieces of apparel as well as special NRA Show deals.
